Nitrofurazone by Wholesale Koi Farm

Pure Nitrofurazone is effective against Columnaris, Flexibacter, Black Molly Disease (Flavobacterium columnaris), Bacterial Gill Disease, Aeromonas, Excess Body Slime, Cloudy Eye, Streptococcus, Furunculosis, Fin and Tail Rot, marine external ulcer disease and some protozoan infestations.  It is very useful for treating minor topical skin infections of freshwater and marine species.

Nitrofurazone is an excellent disinfectant for quarantine tanks with new fish arrivals and is most effective in low pH, is not absorbed through the skin, and should not be used to treat systemic infections alone.

Nitrofurazone is not recommended for use with invertebrates or in reef tanks and may leave your water with a slight yellow tint after treatment is completed.  The yellow tint will fade over time and with water changes.

Recommended Dosage and Treatment:

  • Begin with a 25% water change and remove any activated carbon, purigen or any other product in the filter which helps to remove compounds or chemically polish the water. Removal of these products will help avoid interference with this treatment.
  • Dose at 1 gm per 30 gallons of water or use dosing chart.  To calculate dosing, divide the number of gallons by 30.  The answer represents the number of gm to dose with.  For example, a 600 gallon pond.  600 ÷ 30=20.  Dosing will be 20 gm.
  • Repeat daily for 5-days with a 25% water change daily.
  • NOTE: Complete all 5 days of treatment to avoid unwanted bacteria becoming returning.
