Recently Wholesale Koi Farm transitioned to a new packaging company and updated our dosing directions to improve customer satisfaction, ensure customer ease of use, and simplify directions for use.ย The updated dosing directions are reflected in grams (gm) due to customer request and remain proportionally the same as the original directions.
Nitrofurazone by Wholesale Koi Farm is an excellent fish treatment powder for pond water, freshwater aquaria, fish tanks, aquariums & saltwater with new fish arrivals and is most effective in low pH, is not absorbed through the skin. Nitrofurazone is not recommended for use in reef tanks and may leave your water with a slight yellow tint after the treatment is completed. The yellow tint will fade over time through water changes although the use of activated carbon will facilitate a quicker removal.
Dosing recommendations may vary based dosage strength, frequency of treatment, and targeted pathogen.ย Nitrofurazone is not readily absorbed into the fish body and is highly effective to treat external bacterial infections, minor abrasions, cloudy eyes, eroding fins and tails and wounds. Studies have also shown that dosing may be safely tripled for treatment of difficult cases. Nitrofurazone is the product of choice to deal with problems from Columnaris, Aeromonas, Vibrio, or Furunculosis.
Note:ย There are two different packages with labels.
OLD LABEL: Use ยผ teaspoon per 30 gallons of aquarium water every 24 hours with a 25% water change before each treatment. Treat at full strength with each application.ย FOR AQUARIUMS LARGER THAN 50 GALLONS: ยผ teaspoon per 20 gallons, once every 5 days with a water change before each treatment.ย Treat for two applications.
NEW LABEL: Dose at 1 gm per 30 gallons of water or use dosing chart. To calculate dosing, divide the number of gallons by 30. For example, a 600-gallon pond. 600 รท 30 = 20. The dose will be 20 grams.
Our Recommended Dosage and Treatment:
1- Begin with a 25% water change and remove any activated carbon, purigen, or any other product in the filter. Removal of these products will help avoid interference with this treatment.
2- Dose 1/4 teaspoon per 20 gallons of water.
3- Repeat once every 5 days with a 25% water before each treatment.
